Sphere 1998 science fiction film

Running time: 130 minutes

Language: English

Four scientists are brought from different parts of the country to a plane crash site. After arrival they are informed that the crash story was just a cover, in reality the government needs them to explore the object that was found on the bottom of the ocean. From the data available it seems that it is some sort of spaceship that crashed around year 1700. When they enter the spaceship they discover not only the remains of the pilots that seems to be human, but also all the writing around is in English. But the most interesting part of the object is a golden sphere that looks like it is made of liquid metal. When one of them enters the sphere strange things begin to happen.

Sci fi movie based on Michael Crichton novel has very interesting premise - the strange object at the bottom of the sea, the mysterious sphere, the tension between characters and claustrophobic atmosphere is a perfect setting for great mystery movie. Unfortunately despite many interesting elements the plot advences really slow and leads to rather disappointing ending.
